User Group Analysis for Next Week

March 7th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Just a friendly reminder that next week’s film for analysis is the Hugh Grant/Julia Roberts romantic comedy - Notting Hill. I’ve seen it before but barely remember it (except to say that I remember liking it).

From this DVD cover it is hard to make out what any of the throughlines would be ahead of time. Hugh’s just entering the scene - kind of on the go - while Julia’s humongous face is just sitting there staring at us! (Sounds like an Impact Character to me). Romantic comedy implies a romantic Relationship Throughline - but you never know, it might not even be in there.

We’ll see come next week. If you want to join in, rent it, and try to figure out the storyform on your own. The results will be posted here in about a week and I’m sure Chris will post the podcast soon after.

Only thing I remember is that it is too long.
Story completes after hour , or so, by Roberts leaving. Then next half an hour there is a long, coming back part, where our characters come back together.

Maybe its just me, it was a stretch, like a separate entity glued together. Pacing of the third act was just slow, or maybe it was something to do with dramatica?! :)
Either way, only nice thing are support characters, in my opinion.

      Looking forward to the analysis.
