StoryFanatic random header image

Welcome!

It seems like maybe this is your first time here. It should be pretty obvious by the obnoxious banner overhead, but if you’re still confused what’s going on here be sure to read what this site is all about. If you like what you find here, I also encourage you to subscribe to the RSS feed. In this way, you can always stay up-to-date with this in-depth look into great stories.

New Site Design and Archiving of Posts

February 22nd, 2007 · 1 Comment

I’ve spent the last week or so making changes and additions to this site. My most important goal in this process was making it easier to find and read all the information that I’ve posted over the past couple of years.

The first and most exciting change is the new random header. If you’re subscribed to this blog, you might want to come by and check them out. Right now there are only 20, but I hope to add much more over the coming weeks. Each one is a still from a well-written Dramatica structured film. Now, more than likely they didn’t use Dramatica to write the film, but the films represented are excellent examples of the kind of story that the theory of Dramatica calls for.

It is not an extensive list. All of them so far are just images I could find off the net. And, as best I could, I tried to show a Main Character/Impact Character moment - these always get right to the heart of the story and therefore, make a great image. There are many more I want to add that I’ll have to do myself (can you believe there isn’t a single decent image from The Godfather anywhere?!)

The other less exciting change (but much more labor intensive) was a cleaning up of all the old images and links. This blog started on my old Typepad account and approximately a year ago I switched over to Wordpress. Many of the old images were either missing or corrupted, so I reuploaded those, formatted them to make them look pretty, and then fixed any broken links.

I’ve also started to add many more categories, like Main Character and Book Reviews. In the past I tried to keep it to only 4 (to keep the whole quad structure thing going), but I’ve found lately that the more tags the better when it comes to finding what you’re looking for.

Next up, besides continuing work on the Story Project, I’m going to wrap up all the ideas that were presented in the Summer of 2005 and make a single downloadable PDF for them (like I had originally promised!).

I like the changes. Your effort really shows and, for me anyway, they really pay off. I enjoy the ease in finding what info I’m interested in. Unfortunately, that’s a lot. This blog keeps me busy too. ;)
