Recently, Creative Screenwriting held their Expo here in LA. While I wasn’t able to go, I had several friends in the animation industry who made their way there and were kind enough to record their thoughts on their blogs.
Apparently the most interesting and most rewarding talk was given by Andrew Stanton, writer/director of “Finding Nemo” and obviously someone who has a great gift for storytelling.
In fact, so great, that he and John Lasseter (the big honcho at Pixar) singled me out during my sophomore year at CalArts as a candidate for employment at their burgeoning studio (this would be circa 1992).
Of course, at that time my career as a Ride Operator at Six Flags Magic Mountain was more important to me and besides, Pixar just were those CG guys who made Lifesaver and Listerine commercials. Why would I want to work there?
<sigh>
