Dramatica 10.0

July 24th, 2006 · 2 Comments

What if all the unlimited possibilities of character and character interaction, infinite themes and every possible decision or action your characters can take could be represented by a single dot?

Tenth DimensionI’m sure Chris and Melanie will incorporate this into their next version of Dramatica.

The reason I bring this site up is that I remember one lecture that Melanie gave about how the math behind Dramatica actually allows one to convert space into time…or something to that effect. In other words, you’re figuring out all the story points (the choices you make in the software about the kind of story you want to tell), and Dramatica is able to take these individual pieces and convert them into their temporal form (the Plot Progression chart).

At least, I think that’s what it does.

Hmmmm….this could be something for further investigation.

Question: Does The Writer’s Dreamkit have a Plot Progression Chart, or something similar? I’ve found that I’m very visual, and I think the Chart will help me a lot. Thanks!

No, the Writer’s DreamKit is a simplified version of Dramatica Pro. As such it does not have several of Dramatica Pro major features including the Plot Progression window, the Theme Browser, and the Brainstorming tools.

FYI–Writer’s DreamKit files are 100% compatible with Dramatica Pro. I mention this in case you want to start with WDK and “powergrade” up to Pro at some later date.
