Ever wonder why Keanu Reeves is mostly distancing to a male audience?

It is because he often plays a holistic character.
When considering the Main Character, Dramatica makes a distinction between holistic characters and linear characters. The two different terms describe the problem solving style that the Main Character will primarily employ.
Futhermore, when it comes to male audience members, they can only fully relate to those Main Characters with a linear problem solving style. For us guys, we just don’t get the whole female way of thinking (this is generalizing, of course). You know that confusing, uneasy feeling you get when a problem solver of the female persuasion has to tell you her entire life story in order to justify why she bought that loaf of bread? That’s holistic thinking. You can’t possibly understand why she chose rye over wheat unless you know every single moment that lead up and contributed to that decision.
I know this feeling because I’m a linear problem solving style male.
And it’s why I always feel like Keanu Reeves is a bit odd - like I can’t fully relate to him.
But I still liked The Matrix.
