dramatica class at screenwriting expo 5

July 13th, 2006 · No Comments

Just received my catalog of classes for the Screenwriting Expo 5 in October. After flipping past all the color photos of the Pixar superstars that I used to know back in my CalArts days, I came across a listing for a Dramatica-specific class taught by the master himself, Chris Huntley. Here’s the blurb on it:

Dramatica Story Basics: The Big Stuff

Discover four key story points that can make or break your story. We explore the four throughlines every story needs to make it pitchable, sellable, writeable, and marketable. Dozens of current and classic film examples are used and audience interaction is encouraged. Familiarity with the Dramatica theory of story of Dramatica software is not necessary to get the most from this workshop.

It’s on Friday, October 20th at 10am. If it’s the class I think it is, it’s pretty informative. He shows how you can pick out the four throughlines of a film by just looking at it’s one-sheet (the movie poster). Sign up now!
