backstory/forestory Change MC

Previously I had interpreted what Chris had said about Tearing Down or Building Up to be tied to the Main Character Growth. This was wrong.

Sort of.

It really depends on whether you are talking about resolving the inequity or creating the inequity.

If I don’t have a problem, then I have a problem, but I don’t want to deal with it now, I need to build up a justification to hide it from me.

That is usually the Backstory for a Change Main Character and the Forestory (the Main Story) for the Steadfast Main Character. The Steadfast Main Character is building up a justification to support that position he had initially.

This theory is confusing. So far my favorite post is dramatica simplified. I’m not complaining, just following along

      Sorry about that Ron!

If you’re interested in the theory, you might want to check out Armando’s new book “Dramatica for Screenwriters.” It’s definitely geared more towards those who know a lot about writing but nothing about Dramatica.

      I’m the opposite.
