two doors

May 25th, 2005 · No Comments

One thing that comes to mind right away was the visual of two doors at the end of a story - one marked Problem and the other Symptom. A Main Character works his way through a story, tearing down walls until he reaches the final wall with these two doors. If he is a Change character he’ll open the one marked Solution. If Steadfast, Symptom. There’s more to it than that, but the idea of connecting the Resolve to this moment in the 4th Act was interesting to me.

Climax Wall

Quick sketch of the concept…three walls on the left representing the three major Act turns and then a representation of the final 4th wall with the two doors.
